The Cybersteeds

The Cybersteeds ridden by the Galaxy Rangers are the most advanced animatronic robots so far designed by the scientists at BETA and the Long Shot Research facility.

Compared to these marvels of mechanical synergy, the android Buzzwang is a vending machine. The Cybersteeds comprise fully intelligent Artificial Intelligences combined with robot chassis in the form of a horse - enabling great stability and speed over all types of terrain.

The hooves of the steeds are one of the many marvels - depending on both the speed of the horse and the terrain the hooves will alter both their shape and size - on sandy terrain, the hooves will flatten out, creating more surface area for better stability on the soft terrain, on hard, rocky surfaces, or roads, the hooves with become small and very rubbery, acting as both shock absorbers and pivot points for added speed and maneuverability.

The chassis, or primary bodies of the horse come in three main types;
Within these two main categories are five sub-categories, each including enhancements which rezult in up to 10 types of body shell. Triton, for example, is a type 5 Racing Chassis, while Mel is only a Type 2 - meaning Mel is virtually incapable of overtaking Triton in a flat-out race.

The PC Chips, or Personality Control chips, are the true minds of these robotic marvels. Each chip, the size of a matchbook, is a complex neural network capable of processing as much information as a human brain within a much smaller area. The chips use room temperature superconducting circuits to reproduce the incredibly rapid parallel processing functions that go on in the human brain. The PC chip is very carefully shielded from shock and physical stress, but can be knocked loose, resulting in a dramatic reduction in clear thinking within the cybersteed. See the Cybersteed Voyager for a classic example of this event.

The sensors in the cybersteeds are standard robotic sensor suites, capable of tracking up to 48 independant targets at a range or up to 2 miles (3.2 km). The sensors include radar, infra-red, sonar and infra-sonic, ultra-violet and light enhancement, as well as a 10,000 candela spotlight.

More information will be forthcoming on these exotic machines as it is released from Long Shot.
